Welcome to the website for the Harvard Medical School Department of Global and Continuing Education's Regularly Scheduled Series activities.

Regularly Scheduled Series (RSS) are activities that are planned as a series with multiple sessions that occur on an ongoing basis (at least quarterly), are primarily planned by and presented to HMS’s affiliated hospitals’ and research institutions’ staff, and focus on content of immediate importance to hospital/institution staff. Each session is usually 1-2 hours in length. Example of RSS activities include:

  • Grand Rounds
  • Morbidity and Mortality Conferences
  • Tumor Boards
  • Journal Clubs
  • Case Conferences

Proposal Process

Renewal proposals are collected once per year in the summer depending on start date.  For July start dates, all paperwork is due the 1st week of June.  For August/later start dates, all paperwork is due the 1st week of July.  New proposals are accepted on a rolling basis - the review process is 4-6 weeks.

Required documents for renewals and new activities:

  • RSS Activity Proposal
  • Disclosure form – for all course directors/planners
  • NID form

Check-in Process

We have two yearly check-ins – January and July. During the check-in we collect and review the following documents:

  • HMS RSS Schedule
  • HMS RSS Attendance – only collected once per year during the July check-in
  • Disclosure forms – for all speakers/moderators listed on the schedule
  • Announcement form – for all sessions 

All forms can be found on the Forms tab.  To sign-in, a Course Director and Course Administrator must have an eCommons account. All documents are to be uploaded to the RSS website.  After we review all documents we send out a feedback summary to the Course Director and Course Administrator.


Certificates are sent out in August after the July review and they cover the whole academic year.


All activities are evaluated once per year by the attendees.  We provide the Course Director and Course Administrator with a survey monkey link which they send out to all their attendees.  In April we close the survey and send the Course Director and Course Administrator their summary report. 

RSS New Admin Training

If you are a new course admin, please contact us to schedule a one-on-one training at your office. 

Accreditation Fee

The fee for an RSS activity is $1500 per year.  Invoices are emailed out 6 weeks after your approval date and are due before the January check-in.
